The seventh city founded in Brazil and the forth in the Rio de Janeiro, Cabo Frio was first baptized as Santa Helena. A city that gathers a great number of historical monuments, wonderful beaches with crystal clear water, white sands and dunes, creeks, bays and salines.
Located 150km from Rio de Janeiro and 26km from Búzios, the economy is mainly based on tourism, as most of the cities situaded in the called Região dos Lagos (Lake’s Region). It is famous for their outstanding shrimp pasta that is featured in many travel magazines. The main beach, the Forte Beach, has 4 km of white sand. Its name comes from the Portuguese Fortress of the 16th century situaded in the north rock.
